Level Up Your Sound

Hi Everyone,
We’re a month deep into 2026 already? Wow. Hope your year is off to a great start!
We decided for the “Big ‘26” to keep The Memo concise and solely focused on making better videos. (Heard memos are supposed to be short anyway)
This month it’s audio tips for mobile streamers plus video from a Dallas cemetery.
And to our friends with fixed camera systems–we have an exciting announcement for you– coming (very) soon.
First, a universal truth–clear, clean audio is crucial.
We can all handle a lower resolution video if the audio is crisp. However, not even 8K video can overcome poor sound quality.
So here are a few things to keep in mind before going live:
🎤 Three Audio Rules to Live By
1. Be mindful of microphone placement
Position mics where the action happens and/or where people will be speaking. Spots like the podium, lectern, your chapel PA speakers, or directly on the primary officiant are ideal.
2. Use a windscreen when outside
It might look weird and fuzzy, but it's worth it. You can’t edit out wind noise. Best to use a muff outdoors. Check out the video at the bottom to see more.
3. Check audio levels
Here's a certainty: if it's too loud, no one on earth can fix it, but with MemoryShare you can monitor your camera screen for audio levels. Red = bad.
Last year we added volume control in the camera and a screen showing exactly what your audio source is.

Tap the meter to adjust your volume.
No more guessing which mic is plugged in.

That’s all for now!
Next month we’ll discuss framing, shot selection, and our favorite quick-plate tripod. Plus a major upgrade for funeral homes using installed cameras.
Stay Cool and Lively,
